by all. About 60 years of the life of Bro. Newman has been Monroe and washington in Linn Cty., Iowa. Here among his friends he was well known and respected by all as an earnest christian, a faithful student of the Bible and accomodating neighbor ever ready to call of help. A few men have made a close study of the Bible as he or were better pseted of it's teaching, has been a life that may be used as an example of earnest in search of truth.

When the call came in the great Civil War; he was among those that responded, becoming a member of 120th Co. Iowa Vol Inf. enlisting in 62 and serving until the close of the war mustered in 65, and was engaged

Mr. Newman, while on his sick bed, wrote the following statement and request.
I take this opportunity to present before God and man that in Christ Jesus
is Salvation and in no other name can man be saved, after death for saving a soul which departs to God, become in his likeness. I want the 13 chapter of 1st Corinthians and 15th chapter of 1st Corinthians read in my house and
prayer made for all men in Christ to be saved. I want the past to take charge of my body and lay it away in peace.

salvation of all men after which a short serman was delivered. Interment made in the
