Winifred Courtney

HANNIBAL -- Graveside services for Winifred Marcelline Courtney, 71, of
Keokuk, Iowa, were today at Grand View Burial Park. The Rev. John Groner
officiated.

Ms. Courtney died at 11:15 A.M. May 28, 1994, at River Hills Nursing
Home in Keokuk, Iowa.

She was born July 17, 1922, in Louisiana, to Robert Ernest and Cora
Belle Allison Courtney.

Survivors include one daughter, Donna Happs of Keokuk, Iowa; a
step-brother, William Smith of Hannibal; one stepsister, Betty Ryder of
Mexico; one cousin Mary Tilquist of Keokuk; and James Lowary of
Hallsville; two granddaughters and on great-granddaughter.

She was preceded in death by two stepbrothers, James Smith and Robert
Smith Jr.; one sister Norma Lowary; and one half-sister Ida Taylor.

She worked most of her life as a nurses aide and retired in 1984 from
Keokuk Area Hospital.

She was a member of the All Saints Catholic Church in Keokuk.
