The Kerr Tartan is of recent origin, being adopted during the great tartan revival of the 1820's and may be worn by any descendant of the family Kerr.
Earlier the Clans and family's used Plant Leaves for Badges. The Kerr,s adopted sprigs of Moss Myrtle as theirs. A very poor means of identification. The sprigs were fastened on spear shafts, staffs, bonnet or helmet. It was also believed to be a charm or talisman.
